Application for study in the US in 2012/2013 academic year
Details: Scholarships are offered for a Masters in Journalism or in a specialist study leading to a career in Journalism (e.g. Area Studies) at any accredited US university.
The Fulbright Award will be for a minimum of $25,000 intended as a contribution towards the first year of tuition fees and general maintenance costs whilst in the US.
Other benefits include:
university application and entrance exam fees limited sickness and accident benefit coverage visa sponsorship participation in a number of Fulbright Scholar events in the UK and US.Successful candidates will work with the Fulbright Commission and the Institute of International Education (IIE) to identify and apply to the university departments which offer the best academic fit for their purpose. 4-5 Universities will be applied to on the candidate's behalf.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a UK citizen (resident anywhere). Those who hold or who are eligible to hold US citizenship, or who are resident in the US at the time of application, may not apply for an award from the US-UK Fulbright Commission.
Applicants must also hold, or expect to obtain prior to departing; a minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree from a UK university.
Because an objective of the Fulbright Programme is to provide an educational and cultural experience to those not previously afforded such an opportunity, some preference will be given to candidates who have not had extensive (6 months or more) recent experience in the United States.
